The Tennessee Titans have released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott following an incident at the team’s facility on Thursday, Oct. 15, with reports indicating that a firearm was involved.

The team announced Elliott’s release on Tuesday, Oct. 20, after conducting an internal review. The Titans did not disclose specific details about the incident.

“Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter,” the team said in a statement.

What reportedly happened?

According to reports from A to Z Sports and NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, Elliott was involved in a heated practice altercation with offensive tackle J.C. Latham on Oct. 15.

After being instructed to leave the field, Elliott reportedly removed his pads, left the facility and went to the players’ parking area to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle.

Veteran defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers reportedly intervened and talked Elliott down before the situation escalated further. Security cameras reportedly captured the sequence of events.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. According to reporting from A to Z Sports, the Metro Nashville Police Department said it had received no reports and had no contact with the team regarding the matter.

The Titans have not publicly confirmed the reported firearm details and declined to comment further.

Elliott’s time in Tennessee ends

Elliott signed a two-year contract worth $8 million with Tennessee during the offseason after spending the previous two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.

The veteran defensive tackle appeared in five games for the Titans this season, recording 11 tackles, including one start.

His release ends his first season in Tennessee after a career that also included four seasons with the Cleveland Browns and two seasons in San Francisco.

What happens next?

The Titans have made their decision following their internal review, but Elliott’s NFL future remains uncertain. The team has not provided additional details about the incident or announced any further action related to the matter.
